Frocket is Brisbane’s independent, student-run fashion magazine. We offer young creative people the opportunity to produce an industry-quality magazine, to be published digitally and in print through the support of our amazing community.
Frocket debuted in 2005 as Frock Paper Scissors, a publication created entirely by QUT students studying Fashion and Style Journalism, under the direction of Kay MacMahon. It was a pioneering way to teach real-word skills, allowing students to connect and create inspiring and thought-provoking content for an international audience. In 2015 Tiziana Fererro-Regis took over FPS, and under her guidance the magazine flourished, making the transition from glossy magazine to what we now know as Frocket Zine.

...fashion’s environmental issues had become impossible to ignore. 2019 was the year of Extinction Rebellion, almost every Friday, students, from primary school to university, gathered in the Brisbane’s CBD to voice their fears and their dissent with governments, corporate industry and business. In response, the idea of a zine was born.

With a focus on showcasing local talent from the Greater Brisbane Area, Frocket has continued to build its reputation as an innovative, inspiring zine putting student voices at the forefront… until 2022.

Despite Frocket Zine providing an unparalleled opportunity for learning, over the years QUT steadily reduced funding and in 2022 they pulled the plug. Fashion and Style Journalism was no more. Recognising the amazing opportunity that they had been given, a small group of students from the final class fought to save Frocket, and continue the tradition of creativity, community and hope.

We are pleased to say that Frocket is back in 2023 as a student club. This year’s theme is Another Life - chosen to celebrate Frocket’s rebirth. We want to explore how Fashion lets us reinvent ourselves, how it creates fantasy, drama, and transformative experiences. This issue will not be one to miss!
